The Present and Future

Many fun and exciting things have recently started to happen in the youth ministry. First off on thursday nights, we have started introductory course on apologetics, where students from both the junior high and high school can come and learn the basics of apologetics. The students are throughly enjoying it and learning how to defend their faith and talk to non believers. This has caused many to have talks with friends for the first time about God. Secondly, for the past two months we have visited a church in Long Beach and helped serve homeless food and talk with them. This has been a great success with many students from both the high school and junior high taking an active role in giving up the last Sunday of each month and helping others in the process.

Now for what we are doing in the future. This summer we are going to Pine Summit from July 5-July 9. This is a summer camp where the students will learn about God and bond together. The cost for the entire trip which includes food, room, paintball, zip-line, pool, street hockey rink, frisbee golf course, and much more including memories is only $220. The memories alone will outweigh the cost of the trip. The $100 deposit for the trip is due June 14 and the final payment is due June 28. Also, the theme for the entire summer is "The Ideal Lifestyle". We are going to be discussing the differences between the world's and God's ideal lifestyles.

This past Wednesday, March 11, all the small groups broke off and then discussed what communion was and why we do it. After that, we went into the second set of worship, where we each took time to examine ourselves before we went to the back to get the bread (Jesus's body) and the grape juice (Jesus's blood). We did this to remember and give thanks to Jesus for dieing on the cross for our sins. If you were unable to make it here is a link to the questions we discussed and specific verses that answer those questions. COMMUNION LINK

This last Sunday, March 15, Luke spoke about prayer and how we should and shouldn't pray. These are the verses he discussed Matthew 6:5-18. He started off by saying that the reason we pray to God is because it builds a relationship with Him. You cannot have a relation with someone if you never talk to them. Just like that You cannot have a relationship with God unless you talk with him. Next, he discussed how we should not pray in order to look good in front of people, but we should pray in order to build our relationship with God. Finally, he talked about how we should forgive those that have harmed us, even though it is very difficult to do.
